In this tutorial, I'm going to show you how to save your searches in CINAHL. Now, as I mentioned in one of my previous tutorials, there is a difference in saving search results, and saving search strategy. I showed you how to save search results before, and today I'm going to show you how to save your search strategy, or search history. As I mentioned at the beginning of this series of tutorials, saving your search strategy allows you to rerun the entire search, at a later time, without having to retype the search strategy. Now, the saved searches are associated with the account you log in to, so make sure you're logged in to your My EBSCOHost account. If you are not logged in, your searches are only temporarily saved. They will be gone once you close your browser. Now, if I am logged in to my account, I can just click on this 'Save Searches / Alerts' link. I have to give my search a name... This can be used to identify the search from other saved searches in my account. I'm just going to call it 'Vitamin D'... And I can optionally provide a description to remind myself in the future what this search is all about. I will leave everything else as default... You can see that, by default, the search is going to be saved permanently. Okay, now I can click on the 'Save' button... Now I can log off CINAHL, and come back at a later time. I can click on 'Retrieve Searches'... this will bring up all the saved searches in my account. You can see this is the search I saved just now. If I want to rerun the search, I can click on the 'Retrieve Saved Search' link... and you can see that they are all posted again to my Search History table. I can then click on these 'Rerun' links to my search results again. So that's all I have today— how to permanently save Search History, or Search Strategy. In the next tutorial, I'm going to be showing you how to save your searches as alerts, or RSS feeds, to keep current with new research developments on your topic. I'll see you next time.
