In this video, I'm going to be showing you a really handy feature of RefWorks— removing duplicate references. We all have the experience of wondering whether we should import a certain reference or not, because we can't remember if we have imported it before. Well, with RefWorks, no worries. Just import it— and RefWorks will find the duplicates, if there are any. To find duplicates, I can go to 'View'... ...'Duplicates'. I can choose one of the two options— either 'Exact Duplicates' or 'Close Duplicates'. Just as their names imply, 'Close Duplicates' means that RefWorks thinks they are close enough, and you should pay attention to them. And 'Exact Duplicates' means that RefWorks thinks they are exactly the same. Okay, this is the duplicates view. As you can see, RefWorks automatically groups the duplicates. The first one of a group of duplicates is automatically checked. So, I can go through the duplicates list and decide if I want to delete them or not. So, I've verified that they are real duplicates, and I can click on the 'Delete' icon. This will delete all the references that are currently selected. Confirm... ...and then the duplicates are gone. So this is how you delete duplicates in RefWorks. Thanks for watching... ...and I'll see you next time.
